Good morning Niels (my time, its 8AM here near Toronto)

Its good that your back to using the camera. You seem to have been through a lot, and photography can be a bright spot.

Its a nice scene, nice shot, and it shows the English weather well! And how to deal with it.

The light was quite "flat", partly time of day, partly clouds, so a little contrast can give it a lift. Not a lot you could do when shooting, its really a post processing adjustment.

Ive added a mod with this done.

Hello, Neils.
I can't see from your portfolio that you have ever put a picture into the Critique Gallery before. Excuse me if I'm wrong.
You arrived here because you checked the "Critique Wanted" option. I assume that was your intention.
This is where you forego votes and the chance of awards, in the hope of receiving more detailed and constructive commenting.

It's a charming image of the child with some toys. I love the way the yellow wellies match the colour of the duck on the ground.

I wonder if it is a child that you know, or just someone you encountered in the garden. If you know the child, you might have been able to attract its attention so that it looked at you whilst you took the picture. This eye contact tends to engage your viewer better than having the child look to one side.

I wonder if you could have fitted a bit more of the reflection inside your frame. Just lowering your camera would have achieved this. Unless, of course, the puddle finished before the reflection was complete.

Apart from the contrast adjustment that Willie has done, I can't see any other areas to critique. Unless you have any questions about it for us?

Good to see you back Niels.

You used Auto white balance which has resulted in a cold look. It's clearly an overcas day so you could have used Cloudy white balance for a warmer and more inviting looking image. Of course, you can warm up the image in post processing, with finer control.

The child is very central in the image and cropping a smll amount off the top makes the child more dominant in the frame, as it would had you lowered the cmera slightly as Pamela mentions.

A nicely captued moment with some humour.
