A Hebridean Meandering XIII - Beinn Mhor and the Hellisdale Buttress, S Uist

By hrsimages
Sailing up the east side of the Outer Hebrides this is one of the views you get of the ridge of Beinn Mhor, the highest mountain on the island of South Uist. The mountains of S Uist are quite low by normal standards, rising to a maximum of only 618m, yet see from sea level they look imposing enough and offer some challenging walking on rough terrain where it is not unusual to spot eagles. For the more adventurous there is rock climbing on the Hellisdale Buttress seen in the centre of this photo.
