A Jewel in Peggy’s Gate

By GwailoAngMo
The Peggy in question is Guggenheim. Her former home, the Palazzo Venier Dei Leoni, now houses a museum of twentieth century art which was her personal collection.

The Gate in question is New Gates of Paradise, made by Claire Falkenstien. An abstract iron lattice with various pieces of coloured glass, forgive my flight of fancy with jewel, embedded in it makes up this entrance to the grounds. As the museum was closed I was able to photograph this with the greenery in the background nicely blurred.

It is quite an attractive and individualistic garden gate. I bet it must cost have cost a bob or two when it was new.
