I watched the 'One Show' on TV last night which included a girl who had a bat sanctuary and with tender care and attention was able to release them back into the wild. This reminded me of a time a few years ago when we stayed in a 'holiday cottage' in Northern Scotland.
On the first night there as soon as the light faded the cottage was surrounded by flying bats hotly pursued by a Sparrow Hawk. This was to become a nightly occurance. One morning however this Pipisttrelle Bat was to be found clinging to the cottage wall. It remained there all day before joining the others at dusk to fly around joined by the Sparrow Hawk. It was never seen again. The bats spent day hours in the cottage attic.
