A river runs through it..

By ColleenA
Good morning....from a very hot London
Thank you once again for all your votes and great comments.

Today's images are still from my stay in Winchester....I took a quick walk down the River Itchen. The river flows in several different channels through the city of Winchester some of which came close enough to the Winchester cathedral to have caused serious problems to buildings foundations in earlier years. The main channel flows through the old Winchester mill and to the east of the city's old Roman walls along a promenaded reach known as the Weirs. It is so hard for me everyday to choose the lead image as I like them all so much.
V1 below the bridge
V2 the houses along the river and main road bridge
V3 a small pedestrian bridge across the river
V4 Part of the old Roman wall along the Weirs
V5 An old drinking fountain on the Roman wall
Have a nice Friday...I have been invited to The Dorchester Hotel for lunch GrinGrin so no cricket for me today

You had me in a panic for a moment, I thought it was the Sheffield floods all over again............. I wouldn't be able to chose which to lead with, they all have their individual merits................ As Diane says, we are all enjoying your holiday, who needs to travel when you've got a Colleen.

you have seen a lot more of Britain than I ever have, during dozens of visits since I was a kid.
All I ever saw was suburbs, of Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or London. And Mark&Sparks and motor trade shows. But I know where to buy food in Southall Smile.
Well now, there is a parts I omitted... I was in Scotland on my own three times and yes, I did see a lot!
