A Sad Memorial at John Pit

By Owdman
On my walk this morning I walked past a small wooden cross and the remains of various small items, which marks the spot where a small boy, Jordon Lyon, who was tadpoling with his little stepsister drowned. He bravely went into the pit pond to try to rescue her when she fell in. The incident caused a great deal of controversy at the time. The little girl was rescued by two anglers, but two police community support officers arrived and didn't attempt to go into the water. The body was recovered some minutes later by the boy's step father with the help of a regular police officer who arrived after being called by the PCSOs. The pond looked lovely today, but the waters are murky and I've no idea of the depth of this pond.
