A Square in Leeds

By ade_mcfade
A shot from Saturdays outing with Nick_w (formerly Warney) - this is a little square behind the Coburg pub near the Merrion centre. No idea what it's called, but it's one of those posh places with a fenced garden in the middle that says you ca't play ball games.

A HDR as ever for such photos - pretty flat kinda light though, typically missed the better light earlier in the day.

May add a few lensbaby shots from later in the day as a documentary

Playing about with aperture manipulation? Like them. Can't decide whether I like 2 or 3 best.

You ought to be careful getting this low in the street for a photo. Someone could park their bike and I'm sure that would chafeSmile

As soon as I saw use those bold yellow lines..its AdeMcfade. Great image as usual, but I like the lensbaby shots more. They just look so different and FUN.

There must be a joke here somewhere about McFade & gutters but I won't do it! Great angle here - love the yellow line lead-in & the contrast between old & new.

"But some of us are looking at the stars. . ." Nice diagonal and depth of colour in the lines. lens baby does sort of weird blurry vignetting or something? Fun but what's it 'meant' for?

I really like V1, those yellow lines really bring it. V2,3 and 4 are just plain kewl. And you need to inform us of the address of your fan club Wink

V1 for me.
As for the Fan Club Ade I believe there should have been one more but he had to take his Labrador Guide Dog to the vets but he hopes that he will be able to make it next year to the reunion. Lol Smile

it's a strange contraption really.

the main things to bear in mind are...

1, it's got a curved focal plane
2, you can move the point of focus around this plane by "bending" the lens - i.e. physically moving the front element around
3, you can vary how big the point of focus with by changing aperture size
4, you can change the aperure shape to get creative effects - the ones on this shot were takn with a star shaped aperture

So it's a very differnt beast to the usual lenses you get - different even to the Tilt Shift lenses as they have a flat focal plane.

For the money, they are excellent value IF you are a creative photographer. I don't think the recordist or perfectionist would "get" it really.

I've got an angle finder, it's not quite as bizzare as you'd think.

pretty sure there's a lot of shots of my arse hanging out when I take such shots though!

Bring on the sparkle.
Yellow in an image really draws you in, it did with the rush hour cyclist and it does in V3....
