Welcome to EPZ Pawel.

This is the critique gallery, where you are asking for feedback rather than posting for votes.

Its good if you tell us if you are happy wit the image; if theres any aspect youre not happy with; and what post processing, filters, or effects you have used.

It appears with this shot you have used a blue filter to provide an effect.

It seems to work ok. What you need to be careful with, when theres an obvious flat horizon reference in the shot is that the image is level, and this needs some counter clockwise rotation to level. The bridge supports also indicate the image is leaning to the right, confirming the need for a rotation.

I have uploaded a modification (click the blue modification button) where I have rotated to level, cropped a lot of empty space at the top, and increased exposure slightly. The result is a wider, more panoramic appearance.

These changes are easily done in post processing.

Regards

And welcome from me, too.

Without a bit more from you, it's quite hard to comment really constructively... This looks OK, but there's limited interest in the frame - and there's also a degree of unreality. I can't pin down quite why I think this, but I'm wondering if this is a real scene, or was shot with a model boat and bridge...

Please tell us more about what you were aiming for, and whether you feel you've achieved it.

A warm welcome from me too, I hope you will enjoy it here.

It would help to hear more from you, how you see this and also what processing you have done. I do like the simplicity, and the mystery created by fog. But the fog ends very suddenly as it hits the water horizon... That does not look quite 'right'. The boat also looks somehow detached from the water.

The colour seems to have been manipulated, quite attractively; but there are also signs of excessive, to my eye, sharpening. The water is breaking up into jagged little shapes...

Composition-wise, Willie's modification is the way to go. The interest is all in the lower part of the frame, the expanse of empty sky above simply dilutes the effect.

Welcome Pawel, I hope you enjoy your time on the site.
Did you mean to load this into the Critique gallery, by doing so you will not receive votes but you will get some good, honest critique of your image.
Please help us to help you by giving us a little more information.

For instance,
Do you like this image ?
Is there something in particular you would like help with ?
Did you do any post processing to this ?

As I see it, the horizon needs straightening and lots cropping from the top, Willies mod demonstrates that very well.
I have to agree with the rest of the Team with reference to the actual reality of this image as, for me, it's just not sitting right in the frame.
Did you replace the sky ? or is this a composite of sky, sea and boat ?

Hello everyone and thank you for your opinions. This photo is a real scene. I only used Ligtroom. Interesting opinions about the unreality of compositions and fog. Probably something "overdone" with the sliders in the ligtroom.Smile Thank you for the time you took to look through my picture. Best regards, Pawel

Thanks for coming back to us, it helps so much when a conversation is established. I think the main message that you can draw from this is the virtue of strategic cropping. Plus - don't push those sliders so far unless you want to create an unreal look.

I hope we shall see more from you.

A welcome from me too Pawel.

While I can't add anymore to the advice and suggestions above, if you do significant processing in software, when uploading to the Critique Gallery it helps a lot for us to see a copy of the file as originally shot (you can upload it as a Modification) so that we know how far you've gone and how you envisaged the image so we can make more relevant comments.

Yes, indeed, Pawel - thank you for getting back to us.

Beware the sliders - it's easy to overcook pictures, as well as food!
