Very nice macro, Annette. I love the creamy green bg. The limited color palette makes for a very pleasing image.

The limited palette works well for a green veined white, very nice detail here.

As for V2, I think this would work with a balanced top and bottom. In other words, with a crop to the top (with maybe a bit off the bottom too). You would have to make a decision as to where the reflection starts, using the right-hand group of trees, and put that in the centre on the vertical. The balance will require a bit of thought because the reflection of the tops of those trees has a big ripple in the water.
Simply scrolling up and down here, on this page, you can see different crops (at least I can, on my laptop) and I see another alternative - placing that "centre" one third down from the top. Whatever you choose, I don't think the sky and trees at the top add anything to the image. I like the way the intruding foliage top right balances the sky area, and you should be able to keep a bit of that after the crop.
It may be mostly green and blue, but the greens have different tones and textures, and there are lighter trees in the background, so it's still interesting, and I think you found a very attractive scene, with some little bits of dappled light.

I was composing what to say in my head re v2 then read Pamela's suggestions. Pretty much sums up what I was going to say. The main focus of attention is the reflection in the water and I would crop all the sky out to leave a squarish composition.

Your butterfly and that perfect b/g are wonderful.
The branches top right distracted me, I must admit but Pamelajean
did want a part of that included in a crop. Seeing your landscape through
Pamelajean and Dave's eyes, I think you've got grat advice there.
Delightful little scene with lovely colours.

Good butterfly shot Annette.
And Pamela has took the words right out of my mouth.
That is exactly the constructive comment I was going to make.

A first class close up Annette, the detail is sublime. Some good advice from Pamela to take on board, I must say that I take very few landscapes these days compared to what I did a few years ago and have almost forgotten how to take them!
