A trip not taken #24

By handlerstudio

Maine of course is famous around the world for its the official car of the Maine Maritime Museum...well, you all get it. About sequence, could not wait for Sunday for this one...but got another up my sleeve. And, there is more than good meals and humor about lobsters and Maine. At one time, it was illegal in Maine to feed lobster to prisoner more than three times a was considered cruel and unusual punishment.....So, the Gulf of Maine, where all the lobstering takes place, is warming faster than almost another other ocean body in the world....and the lobsters are moving further offshore and into deeper and colder water...then, of course, there is The Tyrant. What is a good story these days without The Tyrant? With all of his retaliatory tariffs to so many countries, particularly China, the Chinese put, tit for tat, a heavy tariff on American lobsters, which of course means, Maine Lobsters. The result is that now, where the Chinese market used to account for 50% of sales of Maine lobsters, now they are buying none. I only hope the the lobstermen in Maine (some of whom are women) areas a group conservative, and most likely voted for "him" heavily in 2016. I can only hope that they vote their self-interest this time. And, Joe B. gave the speech of his life last night.

And, what is a maritime museum without some old boats?

That is one strange looking roof rack. And I have no idea how you would get in the vw. Maybe there's hinges on its legs. The lobster fishermen have quite the predicament happening. Great images though Peter.

I am partial to a good Main course Peter but that's quite a large one to Theodore. Not sure if any of those dinghies will take the weight of that Lobster Peter, a good set of images....John

A fantastic set Peter!!
The lead is my favorite.

I must say that I wish that my fellow Burlington resident, Bernie, had more influence than he now has. He's an idealist, but a man of character.

Bernie was always my choice, Glenn. Your former socialist mayor. A man of such integrity and sensibility. The corona and climate crises have shown how "right" he is about so many of our issues.

Now, there's a thought. Send the Giant Mutant Ninja Lobsters after the Tyrant. His tweets might, then, become vaguely coherent.

A pity about the lobster fisheries, but perhaps time to target the home market in the delicacy.
Fewer 'food miles' and helping the local economy should be something to aim for especially in these challenging times.

Not to mention a low budget film 'They Came from the Sea'...

Lead image brought to mind the old 1980’s punk era song “rock lobster“ ....I sang that song a few times with drunk university mates ! Trump has also come after our Canadian lobster fishery as well by the way ...
for the trump administration and the large hammer they swing about ...every thing looks like a nail !
Wonderful boat images Peter . My wife and I hope to be touring the Canadian maritime provinces next August ...we will get our fill of lobster then ..
Best regards
