A very solemn moment

Just prior to the noon start of the Annual Raft Race from Blue Anchor to Minehead - an event that raises much needed funds for these unsung hero's - heads were bowed for a one minute silence on the sea and beach by many hundreds in memory of a child who tragically lost his life on Friday in Minehead harbour.
The applause after the silence was for these men and others like them who dedicate their lives to this sterling service, the RNLI.

Thanks Chen, a difficult one to decide on posting but these chaps never get the recognition they deserve. No matter who is on the shout the tragedy touches all at the stations, and indeed all the serviices concerned in the enormous effort to save life.

Nice capture Bev, and your description is much appretiated. I think the shot definetly captures the mood of the moment. The comments from your other viewers are also paticulary kind.
