Walking from the Hepworth flower garden and past the gallery building, as I was crossing the footbridge over the River Calder, I spotted the local heron. I've seen him several times whilst on the bus when going uptown, which crosses the river and where the weir is alongside the road bridge. However, I've never seen him when around there on foot…until this day! 👍🏻
He always likes to perch on the weir – I get the impression he likes the feel of water rushing over his feet! 😁 The lead was my favourite image I took whilst there, taken from the nearest point on the road bridge, so lead with that. V1 was taken when I first spotted him about 10 minutes earlier, and from the footbridge which is about 100 metres away. V2 was taken a bit further along from a viewpoint where you're looking at the weir at an angle of about 90°, hence the waterline looking so straight. Following taking the lead image, a few minutes later he decided to take walk down the slope (V3, V4 & V5) to the lower river level.
