A Windmill on the farm

By Wireworkzzz
These windmills have been used for years for pumping water usually from a dam on the property to water stock and irrigate crops. They are now slowly being replaced by solar pumps.
Penong a small town at the edge of th Nullarbor Plains has been collecting and restoring these Australian icons and now has a museum.
Since I have become a photographer I seem to becoming more aware of things that are disappearring in the name of progress.

Thank you to ddolfelin for the user award on Sunset Over Shorncliffe Jetty

They are good for us to see, Rae.
There are a number around here but not sure what purpose they serve.
Good picture.

Thanks Peter. In this harsh and dry climate they have played a very important part in farming since the pioneering days.Rae
