Abandoned Barn, Abandoned Bike

By Snaphappyannie
Probably both the barn and the bike have now decayed beyond recognition! Found in the Highlands - but not this year!!

I belong to a little private special interest group on Facebook which is non-competitive. Instead, we try to be inspired, and experiment with different techniques and processing ideas. Last month, we had a speaker, who showed us the inspiration behind a photograph of his, which has done very well for him. This a PhotoshopCafe tutorial found on YouTube - here's the link:
You have to skip through the annoying adds every so often!

This was one of my offerings. I have to confess I didn't follow the tuition slavishly! I think I omitted the cutting out bit. Probably the wrong photo to use for this part - so instead, I just ended up "doing my own thing" with a mask and "painting" the colour in and out at different opacities, and with differing size brushes!

It's all about experimenting - not exactly copying, but being inspiration then doing your own thing!

The muted colour drew my attention to this as I looked through the thumbnails.
I really like the way it fades into the background and the fact that you have resisted the temptation to over saturate the building.....john

It's a lovely rendition of this old favourite! I really like the PP treatment!
I used to stop here on every visit to Glen Etive.
I believe the shed and the bike have long gone, in fact the original bicycle (that was totally dilapidated) was actually stolen! The photography club that placed it there actually replaced it with another, but I'm not sure what's there now as I haven't been down that road for over 2 years

I quite like your own thing Annie with the soft colours focused around the subjects. Nicely done.

Thank you for your kind comments and UAs Very much appreciated. Alffoto’s “history” of the subject was very interesting!. Many thanks to that thoughtful camera club for ‘creating’ such a photogenic subject! I had heard that it was long gone. A bit like the iconic “lone tree” on the little island on Rannoch Moor. Loch. Rumour has it a jealous photographer chopped down!

I recognise that old bike shed on Glen Etive Road (now gone) - it was so photogenic.
I like your arty processing. Must check out the link for inspiration which is what we should take, then do as you have done
putting your own stamp on it.
