Acceleration

By KingArthur
Last time out by the coast, I did spot this Black-Necked Grebe floating around at the opposite end of the creek. Very wary of my presence, despite my stealthy stalk, the Grebe kept diving for long stretches only to surface further and further away. Rather frustrating when you are carrying quite a load with a couple of big guns dangling down your neck.

At one point it did start to pitter patter along the surface picking up speed as it went, Joe finally being called into action ..... in such situations, its always good to have your camera settings dialed-in in advance of course. The Grebe's rather lengthy take off aided me in capturing 3 good bursts before it flew off into the late evening sky. I picked this shot from the initial burst which shows the splashes as the Grebe picks up speed with good wing movement. Viewing large should get you in closer to the action ..... enjoy!

I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a bright, healthy (Covid-free) New Year to you and your dear ones,

Joe Smile
