action shot

By pascalg
After yesterday's blurry upload, I wanted to prove that I can get a good action shot when I see one...

This little fellow was basking in the melting snow on the patio, so I rushed outside and caught him in full flight!

I wanted to take some more shots an hour later, but he had fled and was nowhere to be seen, leaving me still trying to find a slower creature than me Wink

Thanks everyone for your kind comments yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised because I was worried that it wasn't up to scratch.

Nice capture of such a speedy subject Pascal! Wink I can understand why it's snail's pace today after such a grueling experience you've had. When's your birthday; we'll have a whip round for you! Who Sade that?

So this is The One That Got Away Wink

L'escargot was a famous race horse, very successful in 1970-71 (no, I am not a fan of racing, I just remember the strangest details).

Love the way he's straining forward, obviously about to make a dash for cover. There's scope for a manipulation or two here. Put him on a skateboard or a motor bike.

It amazes me how they carry that shell on their backs, very interesting slow-speed capture!
Yes, I do have a couple of other cameras, a Pentx ME that is definitely broken, we know this now after loosing a roll of hoped for images. A cheap Ricoh P&S which also takes film and crappy images.
They are quite useless now that digital has arrived and everyone is expecting super sharp images and not the lovely softness of film. *grumpy-face.gif*

Nice one, Pascal. You have used differential focus to create an illusion of motion blur. That takes a bit of doing with such an athletic subject.

G'day, Pascal. I'm learning to freeze motion in my photography class at the moment --- guess we won't be using this little one as model any time soon.
