Comments & critique welcome, as always.
Revisiting an earlier upload with the aim of improving on fairly rudimentary processing. Editing mostly consisted of selecting the white soap suds and adjusting the colour balance to turn them red, then curves and levels adjustments (fiddling). Sounds simple but I still took ages to do it! I uploaded it the other day but it seems I've a serious mismatch between the monitor on my laptop and reality, so I've re-jigged it again. And this time, I thought I'd dispense with the Adult tag I put on the last one (but I'll happily accept it if a mod feels differently).
Did I succeed in improving on my previous attempt?
Adhuc Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.
The translation may or may not be spot-on, but the sentiment of Wilfred Owens' poem remains as powerful as ever.
I won't quote the entire poem here but here are some of the most evocative lines and phrases:
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling,
And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime...
...
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.
In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.
...
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
...
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer...

Since my earlier upload (a few years ago, not the one from the other day), Syrian civilians have been bombarded with sarin; it was sobering to see seriously ill and dying people on the television news no longer in control of their muscles as their limbs twitched involuntarily.
