After the Rain

By FeePhoto
Taken from the Forestry Commission otter hide at Kylerhea on the Isle of Skye. Bored searching for otters (which did eventually appear) I looked around for other subjects.

Armed with the Sigma 80 - 400mm and a bean bag to support it, I saw these beautiful water droplets on the marsh grasses outside the hide. Desaturated in Photoshop.

Hope you like it but please let me know what you think - I don't think I "see" very well in mono but I thought this image suited it.

Very nice, I like the patterns formed by the grass and droplets.

I've done a quick mod with increased contrast.

Can't decide whether the oof bits at the front are a distraction for me. However, over all, it's compelling enough to get my vote. How far away from the subject were you?

Bernard - thanks for the mod - I think it does look better with that increased contrast.

aftertherain - lol!! I knew when I was typing in the title that I'd heard it before somewhere - should have remembered!

jondf - @ 15 metres away, peering out of the open window of the hide, looking slightly downward and to my right so with a pretty much fixed view. There's only one way into or out of the hide and there's no access to the marsh grass in the shot so I couldn't do much "gardening". If you're ever up on Skye, I definitely recommend a visit to the hide - if nothing else, for the 20% hill you have to drive down to get there!!

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to go up to Rassay this year so may well get to see it.
