I've looked at all of your recent "CanyonLands" set and this is the stand out one for me. Several factors:
1. It isn't the usual tourist picture
2. The light is excellent
3. The composition is spot on. With the tree leaning slightly to the left many would have been tempted to place it on the right of the frame. By placing it to the left there is a feeling that the tree itself is trying to escape too, which adds a degree of tension that complements the light
4. You have captured mood through the combination of all these elements showing that it isn't enough to "f8 and be there", composition is King not photoshoppery as you've demonstrated.

What does it look like in mono I wonder? But then I nearly ALWAYS wonder what things look like in black and white Grin

Thanks Dave, your comments are appreciated, and I'll take a look at a mono version.

I recently entered this image in a NYSD photographic comp and the judge more or less slated it, saying something about the light on the rock surface wasn't good Oh, well!

There is a reflection on the rock surface on the RHS but surely that isn't his/her beef? To my mind it doesn't detract from the overall mood of the image.
