Age of Loneliness

By AkashdeepSaha
the picture depicts a person of really old age sitting around without any big thing to do perhaps..it really shows his human age where people become really lonely and devoid of many things in life.

This is a very characterful portrait: but the burning in round the face really shows - I suggest doing it slowly, using low opacity, and lots of passes.

I like the mono - but it would be good to see an unprocessed original version, to see whether there are changes we could suggest in your processing.

This is a really goo portrait, and it shows the soul of the man.

Technically crisp detailed and sharp, I also think that in post processing that darkening of the edges, can be less onvious, and in fact, I suggest you crop this closer so theres little left to darken.

The mans face is a little dark - you may like it that way, though it appears a little underexposed; better to see the colour bersion to judge.

Anyway, Ive uploaded a mod with a close crop, and the fave exposued a little more, about 0.5 stops.

Well done

Willie's done the crop and brightening that I wanted to do, so no point in just doing you another, similar, version.
What I will say though is that you've captured something very special here. There's a lifetime in those eyes of his, and because of the direct eye contact there's an instant, empathic connection with the viewer. It's a very hard gaze to look away from, in fact!

Thank you for the colour version, it looks very good. I think the mans face looks darker in the mono because of how the conversion was done.

Can I ask a favour? Rather than upload the colour with the comment, select modifications, then upload a modification, and upload it there; it will be large enough for us to get a better look.

What a great shot. Like Willie I would crop to off set the subject. I have added my own mod , hope you like it.

Thank you for the colour version.

I've done a black-and-white conversion from it, after adjusting Levels to brighten it a bit, and cropping a lot. This has left a very small image that I had to resize to upload: this has knocked technical quality, but gives an idea of how it might be processed. The mono conversion used the Nik Efex High Structure filter.

And the poor quality of my mod, compared with the others, shows how important technical quality is to this sort of portrait...
