Welcome to the Crituque Gallery, John. You've been an EPZ member a good number of years, so I imagine that you know what we do here.

Was there any particular aspect of this that you wanted comments on? The more you can say about the shot, what yo udid and why, the more we can help. Was this a labour of love, or a technical exercise, I wonder?

I'm picking up that these are actually old images, shot on film... Are the originals in colour? While monochrome often suggests 'old pictures' the subjects tend to cry out for colour.

I'd be inclined to rotate so that the engine is sitting absolutely right way up - see mod.

A great idea, I've just done some straightening to my taste.

Dont know of that insert was there in the wheel, or if you inserted it?

Youve done a good job if thats the case. Rotating it can look better.

If its been made onto the wheel centre, I wonder how it wasnt straight?

There is a softness to the lettering especially, which I'dexpect to be crisp.
It's very difficult just looking at this to say if that was the case with the original negatives or the copying process.

In any case, for copying I'd be using f/11 for best lens performance and to avoid as far as possible any error in focusing or focus variation if there is any curvature or similar of the negative being copied.

It's an interesting idea though Burrell are famous for steam and traction engines and the inserted image is of a railway locomotive. Different things albeit all steam powered, but it might upset the purists. So it would be good to have this where the inserted image is of a road going steam engine. If ever you needed a reason for a day out at a steam rally...

Reminds me of many an image on te camera club exhibition wall in the 70's and 80's but none the wose for that. A decent and interesting effort. Scanning or copying can be difficult and there is often a contrast increase. You have done well.
