Alectoris rufa - What a name for a Red-legged Partridge!

By SocksAndStuff
This momentarily brave Red-legged Partridge was kind enough to let me take a couple of close-ups before trotting off into some rough grass (thinking it was hidden from view no doubt). They are very beautiful - I've never had one allow me so close before so it was quite a thrill! Perhaps people have been feeding it and it has become a little too brave for its own good - or perhaps I didn't look human for a moment - who knows Wink

Great looking bird Helen.

They always seem to be running away when I see them.
