Algeria: 16 Ras (Cape) Djenet

Algeria: 16 Ras (Cape) Djenet, 80 km east from Algiers, April 1980, Agfa slide scanned
Algeria has a northern exposure to the Mediterranean Sea, 1622 km long. The coast is generally mountainous, most exciting areas being called cornice ("corniche"). The coast is varied and the majority of it, wild, unspoilt. Alternate steep mountain with well sheltered coves, beaches stretched. Localities are numerous, but given the length of the coast, between them takes place uninhabited stretch of coastline. The main cities of the coast are very scenic positions different from each other. From west to east the most important and attractive port cities are: Ghazaouet , Beni Saf , Oran , Arzew , Mostaganem , Tenes , Cherchell , Algiers , Dellys , Bejaia , Jijel , Collo , Skikda and Annaba , all former Phoenician and Roman ports.
Algiers is located near the middle of the coast. There are two cornices (one west, the other east of Algiers) that draw attention in particular: cornice Dahra (or Tenes) to the west, and especially Jijel Corniche in Cabylia Minor.
Dahra Corniche ( or " Cote Turquoise") is very little inhabited, has wonderful beaches where cedars interspersed with mountains down to the sea. Jijel Corniche is very spectacular, with steep areas alternated with quiet coves and picturesque high mountains with caves and deep gorges.
Unfortunately I managed to see only the west coast to Morocco (all about 800 km). I regret now that I managed to get to see only a small portion of the cornice Jijel. Moreover, photos and videos with cornice Dahra were lost. So I put a picture of a sunset at about 80 km east of Algiers - Cape Djenet or in Arabic Ras Djinet . In the background, blurred, seen Bouzareah Mount, the slopes of which is built in a natural amphitheater asymmetric Algiers city.

That's a nice slide shot. It seems that Algiers' coastline is very much alike Turkey's west of southern coastline. Thank you so much for your complimentary words about my shots infos. The fact is that I cannot reach your level about providing info material.

Both Algeria and Morrocco are neigbours with the south of Portugal. (Algarve). This is why you can find so many Arabic names of the villages starting with Al ..... as well as a distict mourish influence on the food and sweets made of almonds , figs, dry fruit and spices... Wonderful sky in your shot...
