All puffed out

By Pinnace
What's left of engine 92245 sitting behind Barry railway station. Apparently it was a "9F" which was a BIG engine..It sort of sums up the visual amenities of the whole area, old, fading and in a distinct need of some paint. Sad to see such a beast in it's last throes and I'd bet it was a sight to see when it was thundering down the tracks back in the day (1950s?). It's wheel base bed, thingie, is nearby, but from the look of everything I suspect it all awaits the cutting torches rather than any TLC.

So sad to see such a fabulous class of engine in such a bad state... have a look HERE for further detail.

That link makes it even more sad - thanks for putting it up

Added an "artist impression" version - badly edited I might say - of how the old engine used to look.
