Alpha Male

This is from Thursday night with Dave, we had a session shootig the swans at Fairburn before heading to those trees we painted.

This chap was proudly wandering around with his wings like this for a while, had to wait ages for him to have no other swans interfereing with the shot - there's lots there getting in the way.

Used the speedlite on -1 EV to fill illuminate the bird as this was facing into the sunset so it would have been very dark otherwise

Great shot with great colouring and good use of the fill in flash to bring up the detail in the swan's feathers.

The lighting lifts this way above the ordinary swan pictures. A stunning result.

Love that golden water: great lighting, and your patience in waiting for a) a clear shot and b) a good pose paid off.

Don't get the mod. Good shot but what's it got to do with the swan?

Thankyou for the information, that's a great idea. I often even forget that I've GOT a flash. This is so beautiful that I am going to give it a go. The water is especially good.

I like the sunset on the water hits the eyes
