Altar of the Church of El Rocio, Costa de la Luz

By TonyDy
The village of El Rocio is like a scene from a western movie. There are no roads, it is all built on sand and all the houses have hitching posts for horses. Every year there is a religious festival to the Virgin of the Dew (El Rocio) and about one million people come from all over the region, many by horse and by caravan, all dressed in national costume. Unfortunately, we have not been there for the festival but have visited the village several times.

It must be a wonderful festival to visit, Tony, next time, maybe? What a stunning altar, very well captured. Carol
