Altercation

My first upload for over a month - a series of images taken last week from the bird hide at Center Parcs, Whinfell Forest in Cumbria where we had a wonderful family holiday.

I visited the bird hide on several occasions and was fascinated by the behaviour of some of our feathered friends.

I would appreciate any help in identifying the perpetrators of this little skirmish - they look like a type of finch to me.

I love the challenging expressions of the main subjects and the surprised look of the witness to the event on the right of the shots!

The images are ordered as taken - however, my favourite image is V1.

Hello Richard, we get these here, they are feisty little juvenile Siskins, lovely to see them. Bottom centre is female in the lead image, next up and right is male, all from this years hatch and looking good 👌

Lovely series of birds feeding. I am not sure if in the lead and V1, is that the bird feeding a younger bird? We have a blackbird on the back lawn, that we see feeding an offspring. I just sits under a bush and waiting for the parent coming back to feed it. Great action images, Richard, and welcome back with an award!

A splendid set, there is only one Siskin ( a juvenile) in all of the images, the others are Greenfinches. The Greenfinch nearest the Siskin is also a juvenile and they are bickering over food.
