Ana Marta

By optik
I came across this lovely lady in Birmingham City Centre yesterday, she was demonstrating the art and science of photography by taking portraits with her 'street box camera'. she attracted quite a lot of positive attention from the passersby.

Ana Marta uses a replica of a camera from 1910 to make black and white portraits in the street. It is part performance, part photography, and engages the public in a form of photography which wholly differs from selfies and phone photography. It demonstrates the actual process of the image being made via a small darkroom where the black and white paper is developed in a few minutes, first the negative and then the copies to the sitters.
