Ancient and Modern

I liked the contrast of this pagan folk costume with her use of modern technology. It was taken in Bakewell, Derbyshire, this weekend.

It is not easy to see in this picture but the woman's face was painted black which is believed may depict Moors and could be the origin of the word Morris or "Moorish". It may also have been used to give dancers anonymity and therefore add mystery.
