Not sure about the age of this tree Carol, I think that the park and gardens at Levens were planted between 1689 and 1712. The trees follow the line of the sweeping river Kent and I have read somewhere that if a tree dies another is planted within the old trunk so as it blends in with the others. We are so lucky to live not far from here and often do the walk through the park, it is famous for the black fallow deer, the Bagot Goats and also the avenue of oak trees.
