Anderson, Merchant

By KingBee
Another memorial from St Mary's, Haddington, although this one is in a far worse state of preservation than its older neighbour (see previous upload). Vandals or the weather? Could be either, sad to say, such are the times. You'll maybe notice some slight softening around the remains of the word "merchant", but that's no fault of the excellent Fujinon 35mm f2; it's simply down to the angle at which I shot this, not to mention that the image has been heavily cropped to exclude unwanted content.

Dust to dust applies even to stone.

Although the damage is sad, however it happened, the picture is absorbing, at least in part for the range of textures to be enjoyed, with the light and shade.

I too look far worse than many people older than me, so it is not only headstones...
Mind you, I have yet to discover patches of lichen about my person...

Tight crop and good textures work well.
