Animal Intelligence.

By Carlkuntze
Hua Hin, Thailand.

More than a decade ago, National Geographic devoted an entire issue to
underestimated animal intelligence. I encountered this monkey at a small
"theater," where he performed several skits for fifteen minutes. The trainer did not reward him after each skit. He had regulated periods for meals. Instead, between each gig, he luxuriates in a cool pond, and is summoned by a gentle
tug at his leash. His posture while performing recalls Zampano, the strong man of Fellini's film "La Strada," played by the late Anthony Quinn. After completing his act, he dives back into the pool, where he floats on his back.
