Annus Dispiritus

By Ericsamson
I wonder if some resourceful cove will have any of these made for another memorable (?) year. 🥴 ☹️ 😷

Found on the door of a certain bolt hole 'Somewhere in England.' Granted, it's hardly Luther's '95 Theses' but it's a start. Now I've started I'll finish. 🥴

Many thanks for the very kind responses to 'Hello Sky ... etc'. Basil Fotherington-Thomas is ecstatic and is already skipping towards the golden sunset. Wot a wet he are and no mistak.

All the best for the week ahead. Must dash. I've tidied up the shed and now I can't find anything. Off for a rummage. 🥴

G. 🙂

If they'd had Bookface or Instapram in 1832 there would have been something happening...selfies, lots of them.
All celebrating the invention of the Philips head screw...SmileBlushSmile
Fine work young Graham, I hope you manage to find the shed.

BoJo's government will soon be issuing these free to all who take their new, world-beating corona virus vaccine - the year will, naturellement, show 2020, and all businesses which have been forced to close, all those self-isolating and all those stuck alone in care homes, visits by family refused, will be proudly able to fasten one of these plaques to the outside of their premises/home/single-room...

A new growth industry!

I suggest refraining from putting one up, somewhere, for the sake of variety...

Indeed.
In a similar vein to John D, there was once a blue plaque on a door in Newgate St., Newcastle, reading (something on the lines of): "On the 23rd of April 1897 Mr Samuel Eddystone called at this house to visit a friend who was not here."
These days the friend would have been there all right but Mr Samuel Eddystone would not have been allowed to call.
I mention this only for the sake of completeness as any fule kno . . .
Happy rummaging!
Regards
Bill

How can they be sure that for a whole year........? Perhaps someone was stood there watching. Now that's a job I could do, but not that long ago.

A very modern answer to an ancient problem. Now if they had a Ring doorbell, they could have gone into quarantine somewhere else and been able to see who was calling....

Is this the same plaque that DpD drivers leave...when you're not at home?

A tidy shed is a useless shed!!😁😁😁

A good find, and I assume it was not erected in 1832 as we did not Philip screws then! A silly one which did raise a titter!

Hmmmph - a little ado about nothing. This has been the oddest of years, to put it mildly and non toxically; It has been crazilly eventful, full of madness, yet I have been unable to do much, but little. 🙄
