Another Elephant Hawk-moth

By Ade_Osman
As you might be able to tell, I'm relying on my archives a little at the moment for stuff to upload Smile three reasons behind this being I've not been too clever health wise and as a consequence of this haven't been out much. Plus I've been a camera down again until this morning. I've now had a new main PCB, a mirrorbox, shutter and one or two other bits put into one of my 50d's, hopefully this will now have sorted the problem......Bleedin' well hope so, it's cost a small fortune in just the postage to send it to and from the repairers!.....I won't even begin to tell you what the repair cost. Any more hassle from the thing and it's going in the chuffing bin I think.......Rant Over.......Calm down Ade!

Here we have a rather beautiful Elephant Hawk moth feeding on buddleia in the garden looking rather resplendent in all it's pink and brown finery......And breathe Wink

This must be one of the most striking and colourful moths, Ade, here again captured so well in fine detail and resting on an equally pretty buddleia (?).
(PS.......I shall try to post something tomorrow with no knees/legs on display and so not upset your sensibilitiesWinkWinkWink..........R)

'Another elephant hawk moth' - wish I could say that - with the emphasis on 'another'! Smile
Breathing is good Ade - especially from the belly and diaphragm (old yoga method which really works!). Smile

That and having the right food-plant in the garden.....Which in this case is Honeysuckle and Rosebay Willowherb, you have to garden for the wildlife Annette Grin

A beautiful specimen Ade, the detail and colours are marvellous.
Beautifully detailed work as always Ade!

The caterpillar we found has successfully pupated and is in the garage awaiting the spring, when hopefully it will emerge looking as beautiful as the one above.

Great shot Ade. You really have done well to capture all those subtle and delicate colour changes in the wings.

Suppose I'll just have to get some honeysuckle and rosebay willowherb then.
