Any Port In A Storm

By LynneJoyce
Let me explain the title. Whenever I am troubled I find proximity to water, especially the sea, very soothing. Since we live slap bang in the middle of the country I don't have easy access to the sea so I have to make do with photographs instead. Unfortunately the nearby Leeds Liverpool Canal in the midst of Winter just doesn't cut it!

So here we have 15 images of Calpe port taken during our Christmas visit. There is a posh marina there but the sniffy beggars have it firmly locked and inaccessible to camera wielding voyeurs like me, so all you get here is long distance views of the posh yachts in some of the shots. Fortunately I much prefer the fishing boats that feature so heavily in this set.

The opener gives a good balance of what the port is all about showing as it does the Peņon d'Ifach as a backdrop, a glimpse of the marina in the mid ground, a fishing boat, the fish auction, and cars parked enabling people to visit the fish restaurants and fancy goods stalls nearby in the foreground.

V6 shows the detritus at the bottom of the harbour, V7 is an endearing mascot on one of the fishing boats, V2, the Peņon reflected in the water. The rest speak for themselves I think.

Thank you for viewing and I hope that you enjoy at least some of the 15 shots.

As always Lynne you have given us an amazing set of images to view. Its lovely to see the working fishing boats and it must be a beautiful place to spend some time.
Outstanding presentation as always even v6 which is a load of old rubbish Wink

A wonderful wealth of images from this picturesque port, Lynne: what an extraordinary rock formation standing sentinel over all.
Love all these shots, esp. with the quirky V 7 with Ted strapped to the mast.

we used to sail there in the 80's and always preferred to moor snuggled amongst the fishing fleet

The fishing boats in the harbour have much more character than the posh ones in the marina and that is where we usually make for when visiting. Another varied and beautifully presented set.

I must admit I am so lucky, living 100 feet from the ocean. It is very good for the soul. Living on an island many live on the water here. A lovely set Lynne.

Hello Lynne,
all the accolades have been mentioned so I won,t repeat just to say they are a great set . No 14 is my favourite. I allways wondered why I ,m always in a daze and now I know, its living on the coast even if it is the cold north east.
