April’s ‘Pink’ Moon

By Johnnybairdphotography
No this isn’t a ‘what colour is the dress?’ type post! April’s so called Pink Full Moon is named after the pink flower phlox and typically isn’t pink. Rising above Donaghadee Lighthouse shortly after sunset, April 2017’s full moon gave a lovely orange and yellow glow. Having been set up for over an hour prior to moonrise, I ended up rushing and tripping over myself to find a better vantage point as cloud cover prevented the initial planned shot. This is the third attempt at shooting the rising full moon behind Donaghadee Lighthouse. Previous attempts failed due to cloud cover, and one situation where I had to walk the marina with boots full of seawater – just say no more, the price you pay sometimes!
