Ardvreck Castle

By ThomasGorman
Advreck castle by Loch Assynt in Sutherland has stood at this site since the 16th Century. Now it stands in ruins but it still has that special, but mysterious, look to it.

I arrived on an overcast and bleak day and after a number of hours of poor light I decided to have a spot of lunch. I took my lunch by the shore of Loch Assynt and decided, prior to eating, that I would set my camera up, "just in case". I was so glad I did when this fleeting glimmer of hope struck the castle illuminating it against a muted background.

I hope you like my image. As always, all comments are welcome.

Superb image, Thomas. Excellent composition and I love the way you have captured the Castle and the lower land bathed in sun, set against the darker shadowed mountain. Excellent shot and one I'd have been so happy had I taken it myself.

Good moody and evocative image. A
Love the burst of light picking out the castle here, with the dark bulk of Quinag looming in the bg, great reflection too. Nice work TG.
