Are we going for a beer now or for the dance?

By annettep38
Thanks to Kate for the UA and all those who commented and voted on my fast lizards

Last Sunday was the last day of an important public holiday, Dia de la Virgen de Los Angeles. In all places called Los Angeles there is a fun fair and junk food and plenty of beer.

I saw these two standing at the corner and fired 3x rapidly , had been watching them for a short while but there was always somebody in the way.
It is a candid and I manipulated nothing apart from a slight crop. it wasn't only about them though, I tried to catch some of the atmosphere.

It's an excellent candid Annette, well composed with some great expressions,

Street life. Normally I like street to be landscape format, to lead the eye along the human level, but here the inclusion of the night sky above is rather lovely.

Did you intend to tick for critique Annette? What feedback are you looking for? This would do well in the main gallery.

But seeing as how you did tick that box, I might be tempted to try b&w...

B&W added. I lightened shadows, then did a straight conversion in Nik Silver Efex. No frills apart from a bit of added contrast and Burn edges to enhance the atmosphere.

Love the attitude - with street photography I wouldn't worry too much about technique!

The sort of situation where an f/1.4 lens is a big advantage!

Nothing to add in terms of critique - apart from wondering - like Moira - if posting in the CG was an accident.

You should worry about technique WHATEVER the subject! Getting te technique right is the basis of an good image. I might think differently if bullets were flying about, but in normal circumstances there are best techniques for any subject.

For me ths suffer from too much light on the right. The shop displays. I would have tried to minimise those compositionally, and burnt them in a bit here.
