Around the Corner ...

By sut68
Took this one back in October on the 'Anglesey in Autumn' meet. Had been shooting the waves crashing on some rocks a little earlier and then I moved back and around this rocky outcrop ... wet feet a couple of times, made the walk back a little squelchy Wink

Rich originally posted one from near here but a little further out in the surf and a short while before this.

Cheers for dropping in and also for your support on my previous uploads Smile

Cheers Tom, but it does seem to be leading people straight out again - judging by the 'passers through' Wink

They ain't got taste mate. This is quality and I like the composition along with great water movement. I love your seascapes as they are all exposed really well.

Thank you guys.

LOL @ Ian, I wouldn't say that myself matey Grin There's obviously something not striking a chord with folk but as they haven't said what it is, I don't know [I have my own ideas though]. Admittedly this is probably a less-than-conventional composition and I did 'um' and 'ah' over it initially, but there were things about it that kept dragging me back, so here it is.

I'm glad though that you like my coastal shots Ian, if the weather plays ball this Saturday, there may be a few more to come next week ... though it will have to be a fairly long drive and apathy is high at the moment Wink

Right, off to catch some zzz's ... see you in the morning Smile

Happy to make this 30, deserves a bit more attention too. Lovely work in the surf here, some people do like to play in the water.

Perhaps the composition is what is putting people off, and must admit I'm not 100% convinced myself (not that I'm any great barometer of a good composition!). No denying the detail in the shot though, which is superb.

Perhaps Martin, perhaps it's the fact there's no real dramatic light, perhaps because there's no naked flesh revealed in it ... we'll probably never know Wink

Cheers for your comment though mate,

Paul - Can I suggest that due to the fact the brightest part of the image is in the bottom half your eye is draw there instead of towards the house on the rock, thats why it may not appeal to some people?

I missed this Paul when posted. There are a couple of things that dont quite work for me. The bright water been one, only because to me it unbalances the image.

But the main reason why I dont think it works is the angular rock, the sweep of it takes your eye straight out of the image without punctuating it, and you dont get to the lighthouse which is the main and final object in the eyes journey (if that makes sense). It also feels like it needs just a touch of CW rotation, although that would make the cross (memorial ??) on the hill look off.

It could have worked if there was more space in front of the rock for the eye to circumnavigate. I hope you don't mind me being over critical, just you asked for comments on why it wasn't working.
