This is Phu Chi Fa. A remote region of North West Thailand on the border with Laos. This location attracts hoards of tourists who make the pilgrimage to see the sunrise and mist in the valley.
The view is looking down the valley towards Laos itself. I had an early 5 am start to make it for sunrise. Most images you see of this place are single exposure shots taken from the (2nd) lower outcrop to the left side. If you zoom in close you can see people stood on both outcrops . I have left these in to emphasise the scale of the place. I wanted to shoot the wider scene lower down (5 single exposures stitched in post) . I liked the curve of the valley and used this as a foreground frame
Superb photography, Andy. I like very much the way that the warmly-lit foreground gently cradles the dark, jagged mountains that stretch all the way out to the horizon and the spectacular morning sun. Bob
