At the sharp end

By mrswoolybill
The Tour of Britain seven-man breakaway arriving in our town centre yesterday - Rory Townsend took maximum sprint points ahead of George Bennett and Colin Joyce. Mark Cavendish is second rider from the left.
The versions: V1 Team INEOS Grenadiers; V2 the unmistakable figure of Andre Greipel leading Team Israel Start-up Nation.
The sprint wasn't seriously contested they all had bigger fish to fry. Interestingly though, people I spoke to after the event didn't realise that there hadn't been a contest, they were all going so fast.
We avoided the torrential rain, lightning and hail storm that had all been forecast at various times for the afternoon. But the road was so wet that the sprint finish line had to be laboriously chalked onto the tarmac, tape wouldn't stick.
One more upload to come tomorrow apologies to Alan...
Thanks for looking,

Men in lycra...
Watched the stage on tv yesterday, and the riders certainly had their hands full with the weather...

We had a message afterwards from our daughter. "Watching this on catch-up - is Mum the one in the dinosaur suit?"

Is that Cyclist grinning or grimacing?
Great set of action pictures! Smile

I've been watching the Race on Eurosport )with the commentary in Portuguese), but missed yesterday as we were out all day.

You captured the action very well, Moira. I think I prefer the last two entries with the massed pack!

The Tour of Britain is next on my list to watch after the Tour of Norway. Still catching up after the Vuelta! Thanks for the preview, Moira, with these dynamic action shots. Bob

A fine trio of images of this event, Moria 👍 I'm rather torn between the two versions as my fave. Interesting story too about the event 😃

Where do they put their shopping?
Impressive images Moira as well as providing reassurance that I had understood Bill's PM correctly. 🥴 🙂 I find that Lycra is rather like eating a radish; I don't like it and it doesn't like me. A nice bit of Tweed topped off with a Dear Stalker however ... just the job. These young people today, always in a rush ...............
