Not a lot of people know that Dougie. Perfect composition and delightful colour.

Now that's a beaut, Dougie. Nicely composed, with the tree against the dark sky, and I like the splash of colour of the poppies.

832 was a bit early for vapour trails!
This is such a gentle, pastoral scene now.

A beauty - like the light & shade on the field, lone tree & scattering of poppies. Lovely composition.

Excellent use of the square, peppering the foreground with poppies and using the curve of the field to enclose neutral ground emphasises the placing of the significant hill. The sky is more subdued than in 832, I guess.

I love the feeling of space in this super image and the feeling of being swept along to the hill top. Also nice to be reminded of that historical story I must have heard eons ago ! GillWink

Peace and tranquility now. Good to air the story of the origin of the Saltire.

...and so the Saltire was born. A worthy place, and a more than worthy image to remind us of the flag that flies highest in the hearts of so many of us.
Good one, Dougie.

A fine combination of the elements, Dougie. Just when you think you've seen it all with the poppies and the isolated tree, you notice that isolated hill standing proud on the distant horizon.

A perfect place for such big history! Is this Largo Law in the distance?
A really very attractive image Dougie, a pitty that you cut the tree on top... just a wee bit more sky and it had been absolutely brilliant. The poppies in the fg add to the all over beauty - and in a way they also adds to the history... battlefield and poppies, ...
Love it!

This is on the other side of the Firth of Forth Johanna, near North Berwick, that's Berwick Law on the horizon, there's whales jawbone on the top, from many years ago. Sorry I trimmed the tree, I lost it in the lens correction software, straightening the horizon. Poor excuse I know.
