Aurora - Norway Greens and Purple

By rburnage
I've ben very lucky in that over the last few years I've been to Norway and Iceland and saw the Aurora in both countries. This one is a slightly more unusual angle in that there is no great vista or landscape as foreground to the Aurora, but mainly just the glorious lights themselves providing spectacular greens and purples that took my breathe away. This is from the Reine in the Lofoten Islands, Norway from March 2018

Stunning, Rob!
With a nightscape like this, it's little wonder the Norse of old believed in the likes of Asgarth, Valhalla, etc.

Love the sky, but I'd have been tempted to turn the rock into a silhouette. I think it detracts from the sky.

@owdman Thanks - I've already taken the rock down quite a lot, but yes it is a little distracting. I might look to take the focus away a little more but my feeling is a little detail here would be better than a straight silhouette
