AUSTRALIA 2013 #105

By JN_CHATELAIN_PHOTOGRAPHY
Another day and another walk along Cable Beach able after a lovely swim. For me, this is the ideal beach: very fine and soft sand, warm sea and hardly and hardly any body around.

The beach is named in honour of the Java-to-Australia undersea telegraph cable which reaches the shore here. Cable Beach is about over 4 miles/7 km from the town centre.

Caution, is required when swimming from November through March as box jellyfish are present during those months. They are very dangerous creatures and if you get stung, you might not survive.

The other danger are the saltwater crocodiles (Crocodylus porosus), also known as salties or estuarine crocodiles. They definitely are not herbivores.

They have been sighted off the beach on some occasions, but this is a rarity. There is a good crocodile warning system in place to prevent a face to face encounter with a 22 feet/6.7m monster.

Near Cable Beach, there is a large free of charge car park!!!!!!!!!! Toilets facilities with showers!!!!!!! A really good restaurant!!!!!!! A very nice fish ní chips place!!!!!!! Very nice ice-creams!!!!!!!!!!! What more do you want?

Blue skies, blue sea, white sand, no one around - it doesn't get any better than this, Jean-Noel!
Three superb shots!

Looks like a fantastic place, blue sky like that, white sand and turquoise/blue sea, who wouldn't want to be there.
Lynne.
