Now the Autumn is with us again I've started putting out more feeders for the birds. They seem very eager to use them. Here is a female Greater Spotted Woodpecker, she is selfish and refuses to share with anyone, including her mate...........the male has his share once she moves off (last year I was lucky enough to have two pairs).
I also have Nuthatches, many kinds of Tit (including several different families of Long-tailed Tits), Chaffinches, Grey Wagtails, Pied Wagtails and Wrens. Plus the resident Robin, who sings early every morning - a real treat to hear!
I will gradually put more and more feeders out as more birds come to the garden, expensive and a bit messy, but I think I get the better deal by sharing their company!
