Autumn Falls

By AngieLatham
My first ever visit to the Brecon Beacons yesturday . We went in search of the waterfalls near Ystradfellte in the Glyn Neath valley.....how come no-one mentions how difficult the treck to these falls are! It is definatly not for the faint hearted....especially carrying expensive camera equipment Wink

I am glad I got some good pics....because I am NEVER going there again! lol

the first of many of these series of waterfalls...except for the bigest one, which I was too tired and broken to climb down too Sad

well done Dougie for putting up with your wingie girlfriend Grin (and walking back to get the car from the other carpark when we walked to the wrong one!)

so, here you are in South Wales without paying respect to the South Wales gang...Smile
You got damned near perfect light across the falls here Angie and the season of the year suits this one down to the ground.

Such a lovely composition for me here. Makes a real refreshing change to see a waterfall taken at this angle, most would go below and get the standard water coming towards you shot. The wide angle offers a lovely twist also and imo only makes it even better. Great light etc. Angela, I don't need to go on, it's a beautiful photo period.

Thanks Jeanie! Grin

yes, it was that bad.....only afterwards ,when we arrived in the official carpark (not the one we actually parked in,lol) did we get to read the big information boards telling you that the waterfall route was a 5 mile 'strenuous' hike taking about 4 hours. Dougie went down to the biggest and last fall, the one you can walk behind, but I was just too bushed and worried about my back giving way as the sign post there said it was still 55 mins walk back.
That said, we have found a direct route now to that big fall and so we will go back.....just not to the others Wink

Thankyou everyone for your lovely comments, I havent seen many pics of this particular fall, but I thought it was really beautifull Smile

Cant believe you were there Angie, so was I!! Shame we didn't bump into each other. Yes its a fair and difficult trek, and slippery with all those wet oak leaves underfoot.

This is gorgeous

Well done Angie. Glad you got back without any major disasters due to slipping on wet leaves. Well worth the effort to get shots like this.

Oh thats a shame Mari , is there ever a south wales meet? Now I'm back in the Midlands it would be nice to meet up at other meets rather than just the big one in Loch Lomond. Let me know if there is anything planned Smile

Thanks Dad Smile I was particularly paranoid about falling because I had a dream last week that I slipped and droped the camera and cracked my sigma lens! So you can imagine I was a bit fretfull when things started getting a bit vertical . x
