Autumn Woods II

By paulcr
This is the tree seen in the extreme BG in my 1st Autumn woods image posted a few days ago. Its in Balrath wood Co.Meath and you'll often find kids playing around it. I just call it the "big tree". I can always see goblins and fairies living in and around it and only coming out when its dark..
I LOVE my 10-20 Smile

Have to agree with Wooly - I immediately thought of the tree in Treebeard's "house" reaching out and taking Merry and Pippin! The light on the extending roots makes them almost look like they're alive!

It so lends itself to story telling - my word there could be so many wonderful tales of the woods centred around these old and gnarled roots and branches. How many creatures have taken refuge here in the fierce and stormy winds and storms ....
My grandma used to tell me a never ending story of a tree, it had a door in the side and steps going down inside, and every week we would hear more and more. This was definitely the tree in her tales. - magical and very evocative image- wonderful colours too

This image just leapt out at me from the many images on here.It really is a beautiful subject caught at the perfect time of year .The angle, and that cracking lens just make it more than just a tree image .Plus the fact this tree has lot of character.

Hi Andy, thanks. well yes, some PS work here. Levels, saturation, contrast and some dodging and burning to bring out the shadows and highlights. Nature needs a litle help sometmes to bring out its splendour Smile

Lol, thanks Anna. Visited this tree again the other day and there doesn't seem to be too much growth with new buds yet. Hope its just too early in the year. Still one of my favourite shots.
