Autumns Fawn

By sherlob
40/52

Thank you very much for all the votes, comments and awards on my last upload - I am humbled.

This morning saw me venture out to Dunham Massey to photograph the deer rut. Whilst I did get several shots I am pleased with including some reasonably good portraits of the stags, I feel this image is my favourite from the batch. A maturing fawn (or a young doe - you decide) standing in a small pool of light amongst the old trees that line one of the drives to the hall whilst the mists rise from the pond someway behind her. Witnessing sights such as these are always special - an image of autumn.

Have a great day,

Adam

Nature provided the setting and the opportunity, but you're the one who captured and composed it.

Never being one to jump on a bandwagon...

I think it's a lovely shot of the deer, but I'm afraid for me the massive obtrusive branch top right taking up about a quarter of the frame just spoils this. If I look at it for more than a second, I find myself just looking at the branch.

I rarely comment on images these days after a few years ago I suggested returning to a location in better weather and the photographer suggested back to me that I keep my comments to myself Sad

Ironically, I only noticed this as it has POTW, and yet looking at your portfolio, I can't see a single photo that I wouldn't be delighted to have taken. Your work is fanstastic, so thanks for taking this comment in the spirit it is meant.

Not at all, all constructive critism welcomed. For what itís worth I tend to agree - the idea was that I hoped to create a sense of framing - triggering notions of a secretive peep into a world we donít often see.
