Ah the chicks are out of the nest, i must go back up to Washington, cracking shot Nige, last few times i was up there i have been watching for these.
every time i go to wader lake the Avocets are always over far side never close enough for a good shot. I'm also interested to see the new Lagoon when it fills up, i'm told will be around the 22nd June when the river will be high enough

Thanks to everyone for the votes and comments, and especially to Mike for his UA.
Mike, I have been to Washington a few times and the Avocets are often over the far side of Wader Lake, as they were in this photo. I have seen them closer when the water is lower and they can wade nearer the hides. I did see the newLagoon flood on my last visit 3 weeks ago but there were not many birds down there that time; just a LBB Gull anda Little Ringed Plover. Hope you have better luck. I am trying a summer visit to Caelaverock next weekend combined with a photography course there.
