Avocet Feeding

From a recent trip to Brownsea, we watched this solitary Avocet move away from the main flock, intent on feeding by sidewise sweeping motions through the soft silty mud. What amazed me was tthat despite the amount of muck flying about the feathers stayed pristine (the legs less so Smile )
